Medicare Drug Premiums Projected to Decrease in 2018
Average Cost to Decline by $1.20 Per Month
The average basic premium for a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan is projected to drop to $33.50 per month in 2018, down from $34.70 in 2017. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced the estimated $1.20 monthly cost decrease this week.

CMS plans to release premiums and costs for Medicare drug plans for the 2018 calendar year in mid-September, in advance of the Medicare open enrollment period. As a reminder, the Medicare open enrollment period will run from October 15, 2017 through December 7, 2017.
